Dear Acorn Clients,

We are pleased and excited to offer a new physical rehabilitation service for your dogs, cats and rabbits at our facility next door, Oak Tree Animal Rehabilitation by Acorn Veterinary Clinic. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for your injured, post-operative or senior pet. We are outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment and highly qualified staff to provide the best care for your beloved companion.
Animals who will benefit from physical rehabilitation service include:
  • Animals with mobility issues (e.g. osteoarthritis, neurological conditions)
  • Senior animals with hind limb weakness and pain
  • Overweight animals (including nice kitties)
  • Animals who need conditioning (e.g. hunting dogs, agility dogs, working dogs, etc)
  • Post surgical patients (e.g. TPLO, fractures, etc)
The services we offer include:
  • Underwater treadmill exercises
  • Land-based therapeutic exercises
  • Acupuncture
  • Cold Laser
  • Electrical Stimulation
  • Range of motion exercises
  • Heat or Cold therapy
  • Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) Therapy
We are currently offering discounted services in September/October.  The discount applies for the initial consultation and various services.

Meet our physical rehabilitation team!
Waka Blair, DVM, CVA, CVFT, CCRP
Dr. Blair is the co-owner of Acorn Veterinary Clinic.  She was born and raised in Japan, and is fully fluent in both English and Japanese.  She worked as a veterinary assistant at Acorn and as a registered veterinary technician/Small Animal Renal Transplant Coordinator at UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital prior to attending veterinary school at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, where she graduated with honors.  Following graduation, she trained through the small animal medicine and surgery internship at Texas A & M University as well as a small animal emergency and critical care specialty internship at UC Davis.  She studied eastern medicine for animals while working at a busy after-hour emergency clinic, and furthered her studies through Chi Institute in Florida by training in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine.  Her certifications include certified veterinary acupuncturist (CVA), food therapist (CVFT), and Certification as a Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP) from the University of Tennessee.  Her professional interests include animal physical rehabilitation, feline medicine and integrative medicine. She enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter and two furry children (a very geriatric cat and a Shiba Inu), gardening, skiing and working out.
Barbara Barajas, RVT

Barbara has been a licensed Veterinary Technician since 1982. She worked at Woodland Veterinary Hospital for 18 years after which she spent 19 years working in shelter medicine. Through the combination of both “worlds.” She has gained a lot of experience handling dogs and cats of all temperaments.  She is excited to be part of the team at Acorn Veterinary Clinic and feels privileged to assist in the rehab center to improve the lives of our “senior” fur kids.  Barbara is also currently receiving training in Canine Physical Rehabilitation through University of Tennessee.
Krisi Klinger, RVT

Kristi has been at Acorn since 2004. She became a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2012. She has 1 cat and 2 dogs. In her spare time, she enjoys doing agility with her 2 Shelties.
Joseph Booker

Joseph has been working in the Veterinary field since 2012 as a Veterinary Assistant. Joseph has a passion and desire to learn about integrative medicine.
