SunPower Energy Switch Index

Americans becoming energy-conscious, but don't know how the largest climate bill can help

The second SunPower Energy Switch Index finds nearly nine in 10 Americans would consider switching to solar but 250 million Americans don’t know about incentives in the Inflation Reduction Act that can help make it even more affordable.

Americans are increasingly worried about paying their energy bills. Today, more than 88% of Americans would consider switching to solar energy, a cleaner, more cost-effective solution. Yet, nearly two out of three of those interested in solar don’t think they could afford it. The IRA can help by reducing the cost of solar by 30%, but many Americans are in the dark about the legislation’s potential and how it can help electrify their home.

The 2023 SunPower Energy Switch Index, which collected a representative sample of U.S. adults nationally, uncovers the impact of the IRA in its first year and how it is shaping energy decisions across households in America.
