Hello NHS Students and Families! Our school spirit was on full display today as the students came together to support one another with a spectacular Groutfit Day. So… what exactly is a groutfit? To be honest, my personal preparation included a Google search to make sure I was dressed just right for the occasion. If you haven’t guessed, it’s a gray outfit spirit day and our students demonstrated the full spectrum of the grayscale. The pictures below will give you the best insight into this expression of style and spirit. Most importantly, Groutfit Day is all about hyping the school up for an awesome weekend of MIAA tournament games. The playoffs begin tonight and are, no doubt, going to be a spectacular outpouring of school spirit as the students are looking to pack the house for the girls and boys basketball tournament doubleheader. This is a day that the strength and spirit of our whole community will be on full display in the gym. So, lay out your best Norwell Groutfit and join the Clipper Pride celebration this evening!

Girls Basketball - Friday, March 4 at 5:00 PM @ Norwell High School
-
Boys Basketball - Friday, March 4 at 7:00 PM
The Clipper celebration continues on Saturday with both boys and girls hockey games. The only difference on Saturday is we’re changing our outfits and laying out our best Norwell whites as we bring a Blizzard to The Bog for the boys' tournament game at 3:00 PM. From there, we’ll take our spirit on the road to Foxborough as we cheer on the girls hockey team at 6:00 PM. One-Act Performances - Next week we continue our collective support of our fellow students by attending Norwell High School's one-act performances. Our school’s theater company, the Fourth Wall Players, will present two one-act plays both Thursday, March 10th, and Friday, March 11th at 4:30 PM. These fantastic performances promise to be a memorable evening of entertainment. Tickets are $10 at the door. Here’s additional information about the shows:
-
Five Down One Across by Michael Towers. The story of a somewhat difficult, and occasionally comical, coming-out. (This show is Norwell's entry in 2022's Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild's high school drama festival and will also be performed at the competition at 2:30 pm at Bourne High School on Saturday, March 19th.)
-
The Tower, adapted from a short story of the same name, and directed, by our very own senior Nick Abreu. The play is a powerful look at a family desperately trying to survive in a terrifying post-nuclear apocalyptic world.
Here’s some additional information to be aware of… Term 3 Interim Reports Available - On a different note, this weekend is a great time to have a discussion with your student about how they are progressing in each of their classes and to review their interim report, which is now available in the Aspen portal. As always, if your child is having difficulty please make sure they are communicating with their teacher and utilizing extra help. Additionally, if you see a comment on the interim report that raises a question or concern I encourage you to contact the appropriate teacher for additional information. Incoming 9th-Grade Curriculum Night - For all of you with siblings in the 8th grade, On Wednesday, March 30th at 6:00 PM, Norwell High School will host a Curriculum Night for eighth-grade students and their families at Norwell High School to learn about the academic opportunities at NHS. Be sure to mark your calendars and keep an eye out for an email from Mr. Sulc's with additional information. Be sure to come out and celebrate Clipper pride this weekend! I’m looking forward to seeing you at an upcoming event! GO CLIPPERS!!!! Marc F. Bender Principal Norwell High School |
