B. Bear and Lolly: Off to School Hardcover – Illustrated, June 24, 2014
Purchase options and add-ons
B. Bear (formerly known as Baby Bear) and Lolly (short for Goldilocks) are best friends. After all, they like all the same things. With a bear-and-girl friendship that fits just right, this duo is ready for any adventure—even going to school for the first time.
New York Times bestselling author A. A. Livingston celebrates the power of friendship to overcome first-time jitters, and illustrator Joey Chou's bright, bold art playfully complements this fun twist on a fairytale classic. Kids who may be a little nervous about their own first day of school will be inspired by B. Bear and Lolly's story.

Editorial Reviews
Review
"Chou's brightly colored digital illustrations are a nifty exercise in character spotting, as he hides other fairy-tale characters and settings; Lolly's shortcut passes by an infamous house of straw. And Livingston plays up the original 'Goldilocks' fairy tale when the duo goes shopping for supplies...it's a relatively appealing addition to the fractured-fairy-tale and back-to-school shelves."-- Kirkus Reviews
From the Back Cover
Anyone who remembers the story of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" knows that Baby Bear's bowl, chair, and bed were just right for Goldilocks. That could mean only one thing: that these two would make the perfect pair.
Imagine that B. Bear (who is so not a baby bear) and Lolly (Goldilocks just sounds too prim) become best friends. After all, they like all the same things. With a bear-and-girl friendship that fits as perfectly as jigsaw puzzle pieces, this duo is ready for any adventure, even going to school for the very first time.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2015B.Bear and Lolly and the story of friendship. This is much better than my ending which always ends in the bears eating Goldilocks and then I'm corrected. They actually become friends and go to school together. Much friendlier ending. My daughter laughs at the pig bottom and curly tail sticking out of the hut made of sticks when they take a shortcut to school. Beats me why? I love 2 year old laughter, don't you? Buy the book!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2014This is an adorable first day of Kindergarten tale of (Baby) Bear and his friend (Goldilocks) Lolly, because as the front flap points out they have quite a bit in common and thus make a great pair for friends . The illustrations are great and vivid in a fairy tale woodland. All in all a good silly book on friendship; it is all that truly matters.
I read an advanced copy.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2014My seven-year-old read this story to me and we both loved it!! This is a clever, fun and sweet story based on the characters from Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Very well illustrated. A great gift idea for any little one starting school for the first time. We are looking forward to reading more adventures of B.Bear and Lolly.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2015This book is adorable!! The story and illustrations together make for a great adventure. My 3 year old daughter AND my 7 year old son both really enjoyed this fun book. I hope this becomes a series!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2015Cute, colorful artwork, but the story is a bit thin and lacks charm. The cheap, thin paper the book is printed on is a shame and does little to help make this book something to grab out of the bookcase again.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2014My grand-niece loved it! The writing is clever and original and, together with the eye-catching art, it makes a winning book for kids. Highly recommended.

I purchased this book earlier this summer and it is fantastic! The story is so well thought out and characters well developed. Also, the illustration is so much visual fun and really helps develop the story. My six year old daughter requests this story nightly! It is entertaining and funny to both the child and adult reader alike! Two thumbs up! A must read!
