Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the State of Israel

Since its establishment in Tel Aviv in 1993, the Korean Embassy has been engaging in heartfelt efforts to nurture the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the Republic of Korea and the State of Israel. And indeed to promote the rights of Koreans residing in Israel and to ensure the safety of Korean visitors.  Safeguarding the lives and safety of its people is our mission. In this regard, Israel – one of the major actors in the Middle East and a country which more than 60,000 Koreans visiting each year – is indeed an important partner to Korea. The Embassy regards it as its noble goal to promote the safety and rights of Korean people visiting Israel, and takes all necessary measures to ensure that.

Israel and Korea have many elements in common. Both overcame the challenges of unfavorable geopolitical conditions and scarce natural resources. They both, despite adversity faced in the path they have traveled in history, succeeded in achieving democracy and the market economy thanks to their outstanding human resources and the unwavering spirit of the people. There are many common threads between our peoples. The similarities strike a chord. Our stories resonate with each other. The Israelis are taking an increasing interest in Korean culture, food, products and tourism, and they also note with deep interest Korea’s mature democracy. There are also an increasing number of Korean tourists to Israel, along with Korean entrepreneurs and young start-up businesspeople pursuing the spirit of the Israeli innovation and startup culture.

Since the establishment of Korea-Israel diplomatic ties in 1962, the bilateral relations have continued to flourish in all areas, including the political, economic, and cultural realms. The two countries are not only continuing high-level exchanges, including communication between the Leaders, but also, with the FTA taking effect on December 1, 2022, tremendous strides forward have been taken in the solid thriving ties of cooperation in the economic field. Furthermore, collaboration in the high-tech, start-up and basic science sectors - fields that will lead the 4th industrial revolution – is ever deepening.
