University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) and the Ophthalmology Interest Group (OIG) would like to invite you to join our
Ophthalmology Surgical and Clinical Skills Workshop that will be held on
Saturday, April 20th from 9:00am to 2:00pm. The event is open to all
Pre-Health undergraduate students who identify as being
underrepresented in medicine (Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, and Indigenous/Native American)
and currently
attend or have graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
Students will be guided by ophthalmology faculty preceptors through various surgical and ophthalmic techniques. This is a one-of-a-kind exposure that allows you to try your hand at surgical and clinical skills that are not taught in the pre-medical years or first two years of medical school. This event also includes:
- Q&A Panel with UMSOM medical students and Ophthalmology Resident physicians
- Networking opportunities with Ophthalmology Department physicians
- UMSOM campus tour guided by UMSOM medical students
- Lunch will be provided!
- Transportation: Please plan through the UMBC Shuttle and Carpooling (685 West Baltimore Street)!
This in-person event will be limited to 40 students and will be first-come, first-served! A waitlist will be created for additional URiM students who have an interest in attending.
