Austin, a graduate of this year’s Leadership Bluegrass program, is the founder of the Connecticut Bluegrass Association. He is a member of the Rock Hearts Band, and On the Trail, winners of the 2022 Thomas Point Festival Band contest and the 2023 Grey Fox Emerging Artist award. He is a Wernick Method Jam teacher and is an active bluegrass community advocate. Austin teaches at and hosts numerous music camps and festival youth academies such as at Grey Fox, Jenny Brook, and the Ashokan Center. A former public school orchestra teacher, he continues to visit schools as a clinician, presents professional development sessions, and shares educational resources on his website, blog, and YouTube Channel.
