Internet Famous Paperback – June 6, 2017
Purchase options and add-ons
An engaging and relatable novel for the digital age that perfectly captures the complicated interaction between what goes on in our real lives and what we say online.
Internet sensation Madison Nakama has it all! Her pop-culture rewatch site has a massive following, and fans across the world wait on her every post and tweet. And now Laurent, a fellow geek (and unfairly HOT French exchange student!), has started flirting with her in the comments section of her blog. But Laurent’s not the only one watching for Madi’s replies…
Internet fame has a price, and their online romance sparks the unwanted attention of a troll. When Madi’s “real life” hits a rough patch, she feels her whole world crumbling. With Laurent’s support, can Madi rally her friends across the globe to beat the troll, or will he succeed in driving her away from everything―and everyone―she loves?
Internet Famous is a fresh, contemporary young adult romance for the iGeneration from Danika Stone, author of All the Feels.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2018Noteworthy experiences while reading this book: I had this book via a book box last year. For the life of me, I forget which one. But I thought I was going to hate this book because of all the texting and pictures. But I ended up loving it. It's just one reason to try all books even ones you think you will hate. Becuase they might surprise you!

Notes and Opinions: This one starts out with us learning about Madi and her life of being a blogger. She rewatches movies than does live streaming with them about her experience and feels and then does a blog post via a review. I really loved what she was doing with her site. It speeds right through the first few chapters of her mom leaving for a job and her sister having a freakout. (she's on the spectrum of autism.).
Speaking of characters! I have to say that the author did an amazing job with Sarah! I loved all the characters in this one but for a side character, she was fabulous! Madie was a wonderfully strong character as well. I really enjoyed how she dealt with the troll on her site. I also have to say that she did better than I did when we had this issue. (which we still have to this day sometimes). I have learned my lesson to just let things go and to not engage in defending my site or replying to any trolls. Becuase, in the long run, it just makes it worse. I wish that I had the number of amazing friends and supporters that Madie had a lot of ours are authors who can't speak out about certain things. (and that's fine, we fully understand). Trolls have a way of killing your carer and no author wants that.
Back to the characters through this one had a few of them that stood out. I really think that the Assistant Principle should have just gotten fired. I mean really people!!! As for Laurent I kind of wish that the about this book wouldn't have had him in there since it was a great little safu where at one point Madi thought he was a girl and well he wasn't. The romance was light and cute and I could read about their life together all the time. As for Madi and Sarah's parents, I think they really needed to get a clue. I understand that Madi was supposed to help out etc. But really they needed to deal with Sarah and the issues of people leaving. I kept thinking through all of this what is she going to do when Madi goes to college? She is in High School and needs to learn that just because people have to leave it doesn't mean they won't come back. I know that change is very hard but it is something we all have to deal with.
The story was a faster paced one that made this book really suck you in. It was slow where it needed to be and fast in places where it worked. Which made the story flow very well. The ending rounded up everything you needed to know in a nice neat bow and for me, the entire troll thing was summed up a little too easily. I mean it worked for the story but it was a little too easy if you ask me.
This is defiantly a book I will be revisiting later on. I give it 10/10 mad cows with extra lovin!!! (read the book to understand that one!)

- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2017I found out about Danika Stone after reading All The Feels and couldn't wait to read another fandom-y YA novel from her. I didn't enjoy it quite as much as All the Feels, but this was still great and important. The novel focuses on Madi, an internet famous blogger, who's dealing with falling for an Internet friend, graduating from high school, and dealing with a troll on her blog. It tackles some serious subjects (doxing, copyright infringement, online relationships, etc.) but is sweet, light, and enjoyable. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who's involved in fandom, especially if you liked Stone's All The Feels.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2018This book was not what I thought it would be. I really did injoy it though. The characters are really well written. The plot made me laugh and smile . Over all the story made me a little stressed. Would I read it again? No because i didn’t get attached the book.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2017I am so happy that I finally read INTERNET FAMOUS. This book features a girl that is very active on social media (blogging, tumblr, and twitter).
Madi is so relatable to teenagers now because she has social media and uses it and actually has a fanbase that came from her blog. I found it so interesting how she would post about re-watches of popular movies she does and has a whole rating scale that works and makes sense! Her whole experience with blogging was fun to read about and her ever growing fanbase is amazing and inspiring. I love how the book would have text messages, emails, and pictures. It was a very entertaining and engaging read.
Madi has a sister named Sarah who is on the spectrum. I LOVED how Danika included a character with Autism because I work with children with Autism and I am always looking for a book with a character on the spectrum that is actually correct. I find that with a lot of books that feature a character on the spectrum the characteristics and behaviors of the child aren't believable or very exaggerated. Sarah is believable though. All of the characteristics of Sarah were true and I was able to understand and connect with her because I have worked with children like her that are rigid about schedules, do not like new experiences or changes, and do not like being hugged (although the kids I have worked with love hugs). They are also INSANELY smart and honest. Like brutally honest. If you ask their opinion on something they'll give their honest answer without a second thought.
I liked how Danika included a character with Autism but she wasn't the main focus of the story. It was very interesting to be inside Madi's mind and she is able to tell us the experiences she has with a sibling with special needs.
I LOVED Laurent. He was an interesting and fun character. He was so funny and it was cute how literal he sometimes was seeing as French was his first language. I liked how he was always there for Madi even though she didn't know that he was a guy at first. He was a good guy character for Madi to fall in love with. I enjoyed the scenes he was in and the "dates" he would go on with Madi. Their relationship was so real and relatable especially when they first started going out.
This book brings up the important subject of cyber bullying. The MC, Madi, is being cyber bullied online and it is not okay but it happens to teens especially now when social media is a big part of everyday life. The way she handles it is the way anybody would handle it. There was one aspect of the cyber bullying that I think was very dangerous, but she was able to handle being cyber bullied earlier in life too. I find her strong for being able to handle it the way she did.
One of the things I did not like was the short hand texting she would do, but that is a personal preference. I don't text shorthand with acronyms so I don't like reading it in books.
Out of the things that I liked and disliked the positives outweigh the negatives. This was a great book about cyberbullying and being able to overcome it. It was also had a character with Autism that is real and honest. I highly recommend this book to others that are looking for a fun and interesting read that looks into the life of an internet famous blogger.

What attracted me to read this book was the fact that it revolve around a blogger who watched shows and films. I really liked that idea and I wasn't disappointed on that aspect of the book. It even pushed me to start blogging again on my blog. I hope I can keep it consistent.
Some of the topics discuss in the book (cyber bulling, parental pressure, sibling responsibility) were discuss responsibly, which I really enjoyed.
A book I would recommend to check out if you enjoy contemporary.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2018Just not for me! The concept behind the story was awesome, but the writing fell completely flat and there was just so much that felt inconsistent.
