The river water level at Reimers Ranch Park is very low, due to the drought. Visitors can wade into the water, but it is extremely shallow in many places.

Mountain Biking Trails Status
The mountain bike trails at Milton Reimers Ranch Park are open. They sometimes close after rain.
Reservations Not Taken at Reimers Ranch Park
Reimers Ranch Park does not take reservations. We are first come, first served. We are a large park and do not expect to fill up or reach capacity.

Road To Beach Now Open 7 Days a Week
The road to the beach at Milton Reimers Ranch Park is now open 7 days a week for dropping off people and supplies. No parking on beach level allowed. We expect to close it in late spring 2024 on busy swimming weekends and holidays for public safety reasons.

Know Before You Go
Mountain Bike Trails
Mountain bike trails close down after significant rain to maintain their integrity. They re-open after they're thoroughly dried.
Caution
Mountain biking and rock climbing are inherently hazardous activities. Please read the warning signs at the beginning of the trailheads leading to activity areas.
Road to the Beach Status
The road to the beach is closed to vehicles on busy swimming weekends and holidays for public safety reasons. Check the red and green boxes at the top of the Milton Reimers Ranch Park web page for the current status of the road.
Swimming
Swim in the Pedernales River! The hike from the parking lot to the river is approximately 0.25 miles down a steep grade.
Reimers Observatory
Reimers Observatory is an astronomical observatory located inside Reimers Ranch Park. Reservations for observatory programs are required to be in the park after dark. We offer several programs per month. Click here to go to the Reimers Observatory web page.
Grills
The park does not provide cooking grills, but you may bring your own. They must be above ground and not pose a fire hazard. You can burn gas and charcoal, but not wood due to flying embers.
Bird Walks
Cancelled: Our monthly Bird Walks are cancelled until further notice. When we do have our Bird Walks, all levels of birders are welcome! It's included in the regular park entrance fee. The walk starts at 7:30 am and lasts two hours.
Park staff will escort you on a 2-3 mile long bird walk on relatively flat trails. We recommend you bring binoculars, sturdy shoes, and drinking water. Expect to see birds in a variety of habitats, as we have many wintering sparrow.
Guided Tours
Cancelled: Our weekly guided hikes are cancelled until further notice. When we do lead guided hikes, the cost is included in the regular park entrance fee. The tours last two hours. Guided tours are limited to the first 30 participants.
We hike 2-3 miles into the backcountry area of the park where vehicles are not allowed. The staff talks about the natural history of the land. We recommend you bring sturdy shoes and drinking water.

About
This pristine parkland, open space and reserve land in western Travis County with almost 3 miles of continuous frontage along the Pedernales River is the largest parkland acquisition in the history of Travis County.
The Reimers Ranch parcel is already well known and well loved by many park users. The sizeable Central Texas rock-climbing community views Reimers Ranch as a destination with world-class rock climbing. The active local mountain biking community likewise enjoys Reimers Ranch’s over 18 miles of trails through the classic Central Texas landscape. Local anglers have come to Reimers’ for generations to fish for white bass in the Pedernales River. The Pogue Springs Preserve/Hogge Reserve component of the land acquisition is less known but equally spectacular with Pedernales River frontage, deep canyons and panoramic views of the Texas Hill Country.
