Research Spotlight
COVID-19 Vaccine Uptake in Rural Populations with Substance Use Disorder

Each quarter, CORA publishes synopses of key research papers. In this spotlight, we explore COVID-19 vaccine uptake disparity in rural areas and one potential intervention for those with substance use disorder, involving contingency management. Maine Baseline Needs Assessment Briefs

We are excited to share three data briefs from UVM CORA's Maine baseline needs assessment. From April to June 2021 practitioners and community stakeholders working in Maine participated in an online baseline needs assessment survey. Respondents included physicians, nurse practitioners, school nurses, first responders, and more, from both rural and non-rural settings. Practitioners and community stakeholders provided input on substance use and treatment needs in their communities. Survey topics included concerns about substance use, barriers to treatment, comfort providing treatment, beliefs about treatment, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on substance use and treatment availability, and others.

All three Maine data briefs and the reports from our Vermont and New Hampshire baseline needs assessments are available at https://uvmcora.org/resources/

Contingency Management

Two Tools for Providers

CORA now offers two new tools to help providers learn about contingency management. Contingency management is an evidence-based treatment approach centered on providing incentives to support positive behavior change. It is the treatment of choice for stimulant use disorder.

CORA has created a provider training video that covers the evidence for use of contingency management and the steps and considerations for providers interested in using it. Please click here or on the image to access the video.
CM for Stimulant Use Disorder Resource Guide
We are also pleased to present a new resource guide about contingency management for stimulant use disorder. Please click here or on the image to access recordings, treatment guides, publications and information about a CORA research project.
