Toyota: Road to recall

To Mr. Ken Besinger, Yor report on Toyota's sudden unintended acceleration is nothing new. Hundreds of cases and no one can see the problem. The problem is real. I experienced my self with my wife in our Toyota Avalon on March 27, 2011. The car accelerated like a rocket on an exit ramp and despite my pushing both the emergency and regular break paddles to the floor car had absolutely no breaking effect. I had only five seconds to make a decision of what to do before hitting other cars. I got off the ramp, the car got air born and rolled over several times before coming to rest. We are fortunate enough to be alive to tell you and others that Toyota's SUA is real. There are lot more problems with Toyota cars then just SUA. If you like to know more let me know. Why would complaints of Sudden Acceleration jump after the introduction of the electronic throttle units in 2001? Marc Saylor was a CHP officer--do you really think he wouldnt have tried to pull out the accelerator with his foot or hand, or that he didnt try to stop the car by braking or puttin it into netural? Why did Toyota quietly reprogram the onboard computer, including a brake override, when it serviced vehicles it recalled for floormats and pedal design--calling the reprogram done simply as a gesture of customer service? The recent findings of the NASA report was based on studying 9 cars that it had repurchased from drivers who reported complaints? Thats right--exactly 9 cars-- Hardly a sample pool. A closer look at a section of the NASA report found scenarios in which an engine speed can be increased, RPMs can surge and "the throttle can be opened to various degrees in contradiction to the driver's command," contradicting Toyota's main defense in previous investigations of unintended acceleration.

The court recently ordered Toyota to disclose its eletronic throttle source code so we may get to the bottom of a glitch. Its pretty clear from its history of covering up, delaying, paying lobbyists, that Toyota is trying to minimize potential losses in lawsuits. The bottom line for Toyota is $$$$--its a extremely prideful and arrogant company that is in denial of its flawed product and obviously trying to save face and continue to make billions in profits--even at the cost of the peoples lives.

I think the LA times reporting was biased and hence I have discontinued my subscription with them!
