Fashion Week Briefing: Tiffany Trump and an All-Immigrant Casting
Happy Valentine’s Day.
As lovers nationwide celebrated their shared affections, fashion folk continued shuffling along, from one show to the next. Luckily, the sixth day of Fashion Week was anything but drab, providing plenty to talk about, including Madonna, another sighting of Tiffany Trump and an all-immigrant casting from an Indonesian designer fresh to the New York scene.
Here’s what you missed.
1. Fetty Wap was one of several stars walking in Philipp Plein’s show.
The rappers Desiigner and Young Thug, and Jeremy Meeks, who became known as "the hot felon" after his mug shot went viral in 2014, joined Fetty Wap on the runway on Monday evening. Madonna was in the front row. Unfortunately, the clothes did not live up to the hype, our fashion critic wrote. “What he showed wasn’t style. It was self-indulgence.”
2. Tory Burch was on theme.
For her Valentine’s Day show, the designer left a little something on each guest’s seat.
3. Naeem Khan showed a Grammys trend.
Winter weather be damned. Echoing a trend from the awards show, the designer went for exposed abs on Tuesday morning.
4. Trump spotting.
Tiffany Trump, who had already attended shows by Taoray Wang and Philipp Plein, was front row at Dennis Basso on Tuesday.
5. Moncler Grenoble set an icy mood.
The label is known for its stylish winter wear.
6. An Indonesian designer cast only first- and second-generation immigrants in her show.
Her name is Anniesa Hasibuan, and it was her second show in New York. All of her models wore head scarves.
7. Coach imagined an escape far from New York City.
The label tempted guests with thoughts of a vacation in nature.
8. Brandon Maxwell, who styles Lady Gaga, did disco.
He presented his collection at 4 World Trade Center.
What to look for tomorrow.
• Michael Kors, former judge on “Project Runway,” shows in the morning.
• Kanye West is expected to present a new Yeezy season in the afternoon.
• Ralph Lauren ends the day.
