What do I need to get started?

We’re going to ask you simple questions about your activities, lifestyle and resource usage.

To respond more quickly you have at hand your gas and electricity bills, you will need some data that appears there.

How long do I need to calculate my footprint?

Between 10 and 15 minutes. But if you need more time, don’t worry, you can resume at another time.

If you use the same device (cell phone, tablet or computer) and the same internet connection, your answers are saved for when you re-enter.

What period am I measuring?

Take into account that you are measuring/offsetting your footprint during last year, that is to say, during the last 12 months.

What information do I need to have before measuring my company's footprint?

To calculate the footprint, we are going to analyze the three scopes of your company’s carbon dioxide emissions. For that, we suggest you look for the following information before answering the questions.

To measure scope 1 (direct emissions) you will need to know the amounts and types of fuels consumed per year in equipment and vehicles of your own or of the company.

To measure scope 2 (indirect energy emissions) you will need to know the amount of electricity consumed per year (in kWh) in all the company’s facilities.

To measure scope 3 (other indirect emissions) you will need to know:

  • The total sum of kilometers in business or commercial trips, whether air, land or river.
  • The total sum of kilometers traveled on the employees’ trips from their home to the workplace.
  • The amount in kilograms of paper of any type, consumed per year in the company.
  • The number of kilograms of organic waste generated in the company.
  • New! The number of employees who telecommute, and the number of days that they use that modality.

How long do I need to calculate my footprint?

Between 10 and 15 minutes. But if you need more time, don’t worry, you can resume at another time. If you use the same device (cell phone, tablet or computer) and the same internet connection, your answers are saved for when you re-enter.

What information do I need before measuring the carbon footprint of my event?

To calculate the carbon footprint we will analyze the carbon dioxide emissions for the different scopes before and during the event. To do so, we suggest you gather the following information before answering the questions.

Event preparation:

  1. You will need to define the amount of time dedicated to the preparation of the event (consider 8 hours per day) and assigned staff to make it happen (percentage of the total).
  2. Know the general monthly average of gas (m3) and/or electricity (kWh) consumption of the office, if any.
  3. Associated travel (if any):
    • You are going to need the amount of km traveled (by all means of transportation) by the organizers (visits to the event hall, visits to suppliers, etc.).
    • In addition, the amount of km traveled by outsourced services (supplies and delivery).
  4. Lastly, the amount in kilograms of paper, of any type, consumed for the organization of the event.

In terms of emissions during the event, first define if it is an a) On-site event; b) Remote; c) Mixed. Then you will need to collect the following information:

  1. Days/time the event happens.
  2. Total covered area of space (either event room or recording set in the case of the remote/online mode)
  3. The amount of kg of waste generated (if not available, it is calculated by default)
  4. Finally, the kg of paper consumed in brochures, posters, and any kind of prints during the event

Attendants Emissions: includes emissions resulting from attendants’ travel and accommodation, in the case of on-site events. For online events, energy consumption. For this you need to have the following information at hand:

  1. Number of participants (differentiating remote/online participants)
  2. When applicable, through surveys you should be able to obtain information about means of transportation (air and land) and average kilometers traveled for the attendants’ trips to the location of the event.
  3. For internal travel (same country) associated with the event attendants’ daily travel, speakers' travel to the recording room in the case of online/remote events) you will need to know the total number of km traveled (by type of vehicle) to attend to the location.
  4. In the case of participants from abroad, you can use surveys to obtain information on the number of nights and category of accommodation.

How long do I need to calculate my footprint?

Between 10 and 15 minutes. But if you need more time, don’t worry, you can resume at another time.

What information do I need before measuring the footprint of my flights?

To calculate the footprint we are going to analyze the equivalent carbon dioxide emissions for the different flights. For that, we suggest you look for the following information before answering the questions

  1. Know if the flight was private, commercial or by helicopter
  2. Number of people in the same group for which the footprint is calculated
  3. In case of selecting private flights or helicopter, it is necessary to know the total time (hours) of the duration of the flight and the number of people who traveled on it
  4. For commercial flights you need to know the city of origin and destination or IATA code

How long do I need to calculate my footprint?

Between 2 and 5 minutes. But if you need more time, you can resume later. If you use the same device (cell phone, tablet or computer) and the same internet connection, your answers are saved for the next time you log in
