Errawarra Resources has kicked off exploration activities, Andover West nickel project in the West Pilbara, where a juicy drill target is waiting to be tested.

Following the grant of tenement E47/4352 in the highly prospective mining region earlier this month, Errawarra (ASX:ERW) says targeted mapping and reconnaissance at Andover West has already begun.

A team has also been deployed to conduct a heritage survey coordinated by the Ngarluma Aboriginal Corporation which will run over the area hosting the priority electromagnetic (EM) target is scheduled for this Friday, 23 September 2022.

ERW has also informed the ASX that a fixed loop electromagnetic (FLEM) survey is on the cards and has been locked in to take place over the target area in early October

New FLEM tech to tackle old anomalies

The FLEM survey will be done by a Southern Geoscience field team over a few days. It’s now been more than  15 years since a series of anomalies were initially identified at Andover West using FLEM.

According to ERW, Southern Geoscience will be going in with far more advanced  technology, enabling a far more thorough examination of the site’s potential at depth and across the priority EM target. 

First drills set for October

Andover West covers an area of 100km2 a portion of which is in the ideal geological setting for nickel. The tenements are close to Azure Minerals’ Andover Project, which hosts a Mineral Resource of 4.6Mt @1.11% Ni, 0.47% Cu and 0.05% Co.

Completion of the heritage survey should provide clearance for Errawarra to move forward with the real work – ground disturbing activities – and that of course includes maiden drilling on the Project.

In this regard ERW says it has engaged a drilling contractor and anticipates the initial program – comprising core drilling of up to two holes followed by downhole EM surveying – will begin as soon as next month, subject to the usual regulatory approvals.

Downhole EM surveying is considered a superior targeting tool compared to surface EM surveying in massive sulphide exploration as it can provide a more accurate vector to massive sulphide targets.

Follow-up exploration activities will be planned as warranted by assay and downhole survey results.
