WA1 Resources ASX West Arunta project gravity survey Western Australia iron oxide copper gold

WA1 Resources managing director Paul Savich says the anomaly represents a potential iron oxide-copper-gold exploration target.

Western Australian explorer NickelX (ASX: NKL) is about to begin field work at recently acquired its Dalwallinu project 208km northeast of Perth in a hunt for mineralisation similar to that at the now famed Julimar discovery near the town of Toodyay.

The target area lies within the West Yilgarn mineral province and is considered prospective for nickel-copper-platinum group element mineralisation.

Evaluation of existing data has led to the company placing priority on what it calls the D1 target where previous surface samples returned “highly anomalous” assays, including between 362 parts per million and 674ppm nickel, 201-349ppm copper and numerous palladium-platinum assays above 49ppm.

NickelX is organising an infill soil sampling program at D1.

Priority targets identified

Evaluation of existing geophysical data shows that a geochemical anomaly is coincident with a strong magnetic feature.

NickelX will be conducting a close spaced drone magnetic and airborne electromagnetic surveys over these areas.

D1 is one of 12 priority targets identified over 6km of strike at the Barra Barra greenstone belt.

“Mafic and ultramafic units have been identified, representing an exciting underexplored nickel-copper-PGE project,” the company says.

‘Exciting opportunity’ as team hits the ground

Also at Dalwallinu, field exploration and drill hole siting is being organised.

The exploration area sits on accessible private farmland where Native Title is extinguished. It is located just 1km off the Great Northern Highway.

NickelX managing director Matt Gauci said the work team has hit the ground running so soon after the company acquired Dalwallinu.

Key appoints have been made and geochemical, geophysical and field work programs have either been organised or are underway.

“We believe Dalwallinu is an exciting opportunity for the discovery of nickel-copper-PGM in the emerging West Yilgarn nickel province,” Mr Gauci added.

NickelX explores primarily for high-grade nickel and nickel-copper in Western Australia, led by its Cosmos South project, located on the Wiluna Greenstone Belt.

It also owns the Biranup project located on the Albany Fraser Orogen.
