The word “kimono” means “a thing that is worn” in Japanese, and it refers to many different types of robes, ranging from the ornate brocade outer kimono called uchikake (often used in weddings) to the short, simpler lined jackets known as haori. We also have furisode (robes with “swinging sleeves” traditionally  for younger women), elegant tomesode (formal kimono for married women), michiyuki (outer coats), and yukata  (cotton summer kimono) . Most of our collection is for women, but we also have some children's kimono and men’s kimono and hakama (baggy trousers). In addition, we have an extraordinary selection of obi, the ornately decorated sashes worn around the kimono waist, and zori, the thong-type sandals traditionally worn with kimono.
