This webinar is hosted by the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) and is sponsored by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It will take place on Tuesday, October 25 from 2-3 p.m. ET. The speakers are Rebecca Mountain and Heather Sebero.

Telling Effective Success Stories will explore how to write compelling public health success stories that motivate audiences and elicit change. The presentation will help participants:

  • Determine what effect they want their success story to have.
  • Identify early successes that can impact partners, policymakers, and the public.
  • Define stories in innovative, unexpected ways to engage and influence audiences.

Rebecca Mountain is a senior creative content specialist at Banyan Communications. Mountain is an experienced creative thinker, problem solver, and self-titled word nerd. She has a lifetime of experience as a writer, having "self-published" her first novel at five years old. Since then, Mountain has tasted almost everything word related. She has designed numerous scientifically based online trainings and ghostwritten for celebrities and politicians. She has also planned multi-million-dollar international fundraising programs and crafted content strategies for wide-reaching health communications campaigns. While she would describe herself as an expert generalist, her true passion is for translating complex concepts into accessible, actionable information for diverse audiences.

Heather Sebero is a senior analyst for social and behavioral health at ASTHO. Sebero is an experienced leader with a demonstrated history of working in government, nonprofits, and higher education. She has over 11 years of experience managing health programs and shaping public policies. In her current role, she convenes federal departments, state, territorial, and freely associated state health agencies, and community-based organizations to advance health equity and optimal well-being for all. Sebero also serves as an information and policy resource for injury and suicide prevention.
