The cover art was produced by Ms. Kim Kicks, an artist in Atlanta, Georgia. It is entitled “DNA Spectrum Activation Abundance”, and was created while the artist was experiencing homelessness. Ms. Kim describes that being able to paint even while sleeping in an encampment was empowering, and she was able to learn her worth through connection with other artists in a similar situation. She also believes that art is connected to health: it can be calming and it gives a voice to otherwise internal thought patterns. The guest editors chose this cover art because it brings to mind viral pathogens and patterns of outbreaks while highlighting the critical need to include people experiencing homelessness as partners in health care and public health.
