WA1 Resources managing director Paul Savich says the anomaly represents a potential iron oxide-copper-gold exploration target.

Western Australian explorer NickelX (ASX: NKL) has commissioned a low-level drone magnetometer survey as the initial stage of its field program at the Dalwallinu nickel-copper-platinum group element project.

Dalwallinu is located 208km northeast of Perth and is NickelX’s target for mineralisation similar to that at the now famed Julimar discovery near the town of Toodyay, owned by Chalice Mining (ASX: CHN).

The company says that evaluation of existing geochemical datasets has identified the D1 target, which has been accorded top priority.

Previous surface samples at D1 returned highly anomalous assays, including 362-674 parts per million nickel, and between 201-349ppm copper, along with numerous palladium-platinum of more than 49 parts per billion.

PGE numbers ‘some of the highest’ seen in sampling

The anomaly is coincident with a strong magnetic feature.

NickelX managing director Matt Gauci said the exploration team had hit the ground running soon after the acquisition of the Dalwallinu nickel project.

He describes Dalwallinu as an existing opportunity.

“The historical shallow soils chemistry numbers are outstanding, the PGE numbers are some of the highest seen from soil samples in this highly prospective Western Yilgarn region,” he added.

Field exploration also soon under way

D1 is one of 12 priority targets identified over a strike length of 6km at the Barra Barra greenstone belt.

The exploration area sits on accessible private farmland where Native Title is extinguished. It is located just 1km off the Great Northern Highway.

Field exploration and drill hole siting is also being organised at Dalwallinu.

NickelX says Dalwallinu complements its Cosmos South project where the company recently completed diamond drilling, and from which it is awaiting assay results on numerous semi-massive and massive sulphide intersections over a 150m down hole length.

Cosmos South is located on the Wiluna Greenstone Belt.

NickelX also owns the Biranup project located on the Albany Fraser Belt.

The drone survey is being undertaken by Perth-based Sensorem.
