BHP’s Nickel West division has reported slightly lower production in the first half of the 2022-23 financial year but is maintaining its full-year guidance.

BHP said Nickel West production decreased by 2 per cent to 38,400 tonnes compared with the same period a year earlier, reflecting the slower than expected ramp-up of the Kwinana refinery following planned Kalgoorlie Nickel Smelter and refinery maintenance during the December quarter.

The company said guidance for the 2022-23 financial year remained unchanged at 80,000t-90,000t, with volumes weighted to the second half of the financial year.
