Roseanne Barr Dares You To ‘Cancel This!’ In Her First Stand-Up Special In Nearly 20 Years

Roseanne Barr, the controversial comedian, is making her comeback with a new Fox comedy special, Roseanne Barr: Cancel This!, her first return to stand-up in nearly 20 years.

The hour-long comedy special debuts exclusively on Fox Nation on February 13, 2023, and will feature Barr’s take on growing up Jewish and raising her “privileged brood.” It was filmed in front of a live audience in Texas.

The special will be released along with Who Is Roseanne Barr?, which is said to be similar to a traditional documentary and will feature an “in-depth look” into the life and career of Barr.

Deadline reports that a teaser for the comedy special premiered during Sunday’s NFC Championship Game; you can watch it above. The clip has since been shared on social media with Fox Nation writing, “A legend returns February 13th.”

In the teaser, Barr lets out a villainous laugh and asks, “Has anybody been fired recently?” referring to her 2018 controversy when she compared former President Barack Obama’s adviser Valerie Jarrett to an ape.

Her racist comments led to the Roseanne revival being canceled by ABC and later rebranded as The Conners, resulting in Barr’s eponymous character being killed off. The comedian was also dropped by her agency, ICM Partners, who said, “What she wrote is antithetical to our core values, both as individuals and as an agency.”

At the time, Barr tweeted an apology for her comment, writing, “I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.”

But judging by the title of Barr’s new comedy special, it seems like she didn’t learn from her mistake. Instead, she’s just joined the likes of Louis C.K. and J.K. Rowling, who continue to reap the successes of their work despite being neck-deep in controversy.
