A free ride and a friendly driver aren't necessarily what taxi riders expect. But that's exactly what the author and television personality Leon Logothetis will be offering for the next couple of weeks, as he continues his cross-country road trip that began in New York City on Oct. 24.
When Mr. Logothetis traversed the country in 2007 on a budget of just $5 a day for his TV reality show, ''Amazing Adventures of a Nobody,'' he relied on the kindness of strangers for necessities like food and shelter. Now, he said, it's time to give something back. So he's offering free rides in a vintage English taxi, appropriately known as the Kindness Cab (kindnesscab.com).
