Matthew Murphy

Matt Murphy is an experienced litigator, trial attorney, and counselor who focuses his practice on complex white collar investigations and defense. Matt represents companies and individuals in a variety of industries, including financial institutions, pharmaceutical companies, insurance carriers, and health insurers. He has practiced in courts throughout the country, including at trial. Matt’s extensive white collar investigations and defense work involves enforcement authorities that include the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), state attorneys general, and district attorneys’ offices.

Before joining Venable, Matt was an assistant district attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and, more recently, in private practice at a major law firm.
