Rep. Krishnamoorthi Presents Streamwood with Funding for New Bike Path

SCHAUMBURG, IL – On Sunday, June 11th, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi presented the Village of Streamwood with a check for $330,400 for the construction of the Madison Drive Bike and Pedestrian Trail. Congressman Krishnamoorthi secured the funding for this community project as part of this year’s government funding package. The Madison Drive trail will connect the recently-completed off-street path on Irving Park Road to the pedestrian/bike bridge over Route 59. Construction is set to be completed by the beginning of 2025.

“The Madison Drive Bike and Pedestrian Trail will not only help connect communities to each other in a more direct and accessible way, but it will also improve public safety, protect the local environment, and support community members’ physical and mental health,” said Congressman Krishnamoorthi. “I am proud to have been able to secure the funding to aid the construction of this trail system, and I look forward to seeing the progress that is made as this project proceeds.”

The Madison Drive Bike and Pedestrian Trail will connect residential and commercial areas of the Village of Streamwood, as well as linking up various public facilities. The Village of Streamwood’s Comprehensive Plan, adopted in 2018, recognizes that the path will help physically connect the east and west sides of the community, while also reducing stress on existing roadways, and encouraging alternative, cleaner, and healthier modes of transportation.
